History and Achievements

S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University is 51 years old. The history of this University represents the history of the formation of higher education in the Pavlodar region.

Pavlodar Industrial Institute (PII) was established in 1960 based on the Resolution No. 1009 of the Council of USSR Ministers of September 20, 1960. In 1992, PII was reorganized into Kazakh State Technical University. In 1994, the University was reorganized again. This time, its name was Pavlodar State University. In 1996, it was renamed to S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University by the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University is one of the largest universities of Kazakhstan. PSU is one of the main educational, scientific and cultural centers not only in the Pavlodar region, but also in the Republic. This is a major educational and scientific center in which the research work is carried out at 9 faculties and 12 research centers.

Today, PSU is a multidisciplinary university with a high scientific and pedagogical potential.

The University trains specialists in different areas: it has 64 Bachelor's degree programs with both full-time and part-times modes of studies available. The courses are taught in the state and Russian languages.

The number of students enrolled in higher education programs amounts to 8906 people, 2287 students studying courses in the state language.

PSU offers 47 officially certified Master's degree programs. These full-time programs are available in the Kazakh and Russian language.

On March 30, 2010, the University received a license for 4 Doctoral programs .

In order to enter the global educational space, the main indicator of which is the quality of educational services, the university signed:

- Taraz Charter (November of 2008, Aktau);

- Magna Charta Universitatum (September of 2009, Bologna).

Signing of these agreements is aimed at the working out of and compliance with common international requirements for quality of education. This quality is ensured by means of:

- Introduction of a quality management system - the University was recertified in December of 2008. In the same year, PSU received the EUROPEAN QUALITY international award for seeking to achieve high quality of educational services in accordance with European standards. The University received THE UNITED EUROPE award for its contribution to the development of European integration;

- Institutional accreditation. On June 30, 2010, the Accreditation Board of the National Accreditation Center made a decision on the accreditation of S. Toraighyrov Pavlodar State University for a period of 5 years (Institutional Accreditation Certificate No. 000015 dated June 30, 2010).

- International accreditation. PSU has launched the process of going through the international accreditation of educational programs. In order to pass the international accreditation, PSU works in close cooperation with international accreditation agencies of Germany (ASIIN and ACQUIN);

According to the rankings of universities of the Republic Kazakhstan, PSU is always ranked among the leading universities.
